Interview w Benjamin Rubenstein on June 29, 2011

Benjamin Rubenstein
Benjamin lives in Arlington, where the only thing worse than the traffic is the lack of good falafel. He likes exercising, following sports, and taking pocketfuls of candy from the office stash. He's very sneaky.

Benjamin was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma when he was 16, and then myelodysplasia when he was 19 while attending the University of Virginia. He had an intense fear of being seen as the "Sick Kid," so he developed a defense mechanism to how others perceived him: the delusion that he was superhuman. Along with this delusion came a set of rules that guided his life, including never talking about cancer. When he later got his book published, he realized that rule may require breaking. He is the author of the blog, "I've Still Got Both My Nuts," and the book, "TWICE: How I Became a Cancer-Slaying Super Man Before I Turned 21.
